Book Review: Hush, Hush By Becca Fitzpatrick

Synopsis:  Nora Grey is just an ordinary girl who goes to an ordinary school, but when she meets Patch she finds out he's anything but. As she becomes more drawn to him against her better judgement she doesn't know whether she can trust after a series of strange encounters but does she really want to find out the truth?

Review: As soon as I started reading I realised the similarities between Hush, Hush and Twilight were striking, the love story, even the biology room where they first met, but as I read on I found out this story is a lot more in depth and intriguing and not a sparkle in sight.
Patch is the ultimate in desire, dark and brooding he draws you in with his wicked smile and easy stance. You cannot figure out whether he's good or bad and it's compulsive reading to say the least.
Nora on the other hand is not as annoying and miserable as Bella was but is still slightly irritating in her attitude towards Patch sort of like will she, won't she?  
The story itself lacks where the characters more than makes up for, it has no real structure and it's all surrounded by Nora and Patch and their tug of war "friendship". The ending was very anticlimactic and it didn't tie up the loose ends as well as I would of hoped for but I'm still looking forward to reading the next installment to see how the "friendship" progresses and where the story would go from here.
 Overall Score:  3.5/5 although weak in places, the character structure more than makes up where the story lacks.

My trip to Barcelona

On my 21st birthday I managed to fulfill my dream of going to Barcelona to see Antonio Gaudi's work, granted it was with my knob head ex boyfriend but hey you cannot be picky all the time.

It didn't exactly get off to a good start when the Pilot said Happy Birthday to me over the mike and I didn't realise it was for me, yes I was clapping and said "ee I didn't know it was someone else's birthday on here" even thought he said my name, not to mention to top it all off I was hysterical on take off. Very. Embarrassing.

It kind of went down hill from there, the "5 star" hotel we were supposed to stay in turned out it was the one across the road instead and upon arriving to the room I stumped my toe and blood went everywhere (no joke). I was almost run over crossing the road even though the light was on red and the taxi drive was the most frightening I'd ever taken.

We were propositioned by a group of kids trying to get money out of us, an old guy looked down my top and did not try to hide it, I got vertigo at the top of the tower at the cathedral and had to come straight back down after paying 10 euros.

My boyfriend was only interested in spray paint and had to travel to the same shop everyday, and a man walked past us completely naked with his dongle hanging low, well his wasn't completely naked he was wearing shoes and I came back whiter than when I went.

Apart from that, great trip.

I'm wondering if anybody else has had a worse trip?

Random Thoughts

I was just thinking about life and how at the minute it's went a bit off track with myself having no voice and all but I think I'm getting there, speech therapy is going well and I'm starting to feel a bit better in myself. 

Next in my list of to-dos is get a career so it's back off to college for me and get back on track. 

I think it's time to take the bull by the horns and take charge! 

I'm glad I've got that off my chest! 

The Obsession Continues

So my cake obsession is going a little overboard at the minute ever since I bought that book which can be purchased here if anybodies interested.

The next recipe I tried was Jumbo Chocolate Cupcakes which seemed to take on a life of it's own when they were baking. I suggest buying the book it's great! As for me I think I'm gonna be chomping on cakes for quite awhile yet.

Book Review: Camellia By Lesley Pearce

Synopsis:  15 year old Camellia Norton's life is turned upside down when her mother is found dead in the nearby river.  Now an Orphan she runs away to London to experience life of the swinging 60s but her past won't stay buried forever and eventually it will threaten to ruin everything.

Review: As a self confessed Lesley Pearce fan I have read loads of her books and this one is definitely one of a my favourites I bought it at a charity shop for £1. It's a heart wrenching story of a girl who's hungry for some love and affection and gets caught up with some unsavoury characters along the way. I found it hard to put this book down it was amazing with a lot of subtle twists thrown in as well, it quite a long book at 768 pages but it worth the time it takes to read it, extremely powerful.

 Overall Score: 5/5 Wonderful book, a real gem.

Book Review: Spider Light by Sarah Rayne

I absolutely love reading so I thought it would be a good idea to review the books I read and write about them in my blog, I'm going to start with Spider Light which I picked up in a charity shop for £1.00

Synopsis: Antonia Weston is trying to rebuild her life after being released from prison after 5 years, she lands herself in Amberwood with the elegant Quire House, eerie Twygrist Mill and the macabre Latchkill Asylum. As she becomes embroiled in the twisted history of these places someone from her own past larks in the spider light.


Review: This is the first book I have read of Sarah Rayne and to be honest it won't be the last. Although it started a bit slow for me it quickly developed into an eerie story with twists and turns everywhere. The atmosphere it creates when reading is electric and I found it hard to put down often reading it late at night which probably wasn't a good idea as I became all too aware of my surroundings and every little noise.
I did find the ending a bit anticlimactic with it kind of falling flat right at the last hurdle but having said that it was still an enjoyable read for a stormy night.

 Overall Score: 3/5 Enjoyable read with exciting twists and turns.  

Taking the Mick

Do you ever get the feeling you know someone is taking the mick out of you and exploiting your weakness at the inability to say no?
To be honest I really don't know what to do about it she rings me all the time to pick her up or take her to the hospital frequently which normally results in me sitting there for hours because I cannot leave her alone as she's an old woman now.
I'm finding it difficult because she doesn't normally bother with my side of the family because she has her favourites who couldn't give a crap about her and treat her like shit but you know the sun shines out of their arses.
I wish I knew what to do?

Cupcake Obsession!

Ok lets take a time out from all the depressing stuff and for the last week I've had a bit of a obsession with baking cakes and my favourite recipe was the marble chocolate one's and I think I had a few too many :D I loved it so much I think I'll share the recipe with you guys. It's from a book called Cupcakes and Muffins and it's the best £1.99 I've ever spent.

Marbled Chocolate Cupcakes

Makes 21

Ingredients Needed: 

175g of Soft Margerine, 

175g of Caster Sugar, 

3 Eggs

175g of Self Raising Flour, 

2 Tbsp of Milk, 

55g Melted Plain Chocolate. 

What to do! 

First of all you need to put 21 paper baking cases into a muffin tin. 

Next put the sugar, margarine, eggs, flour and milk into a larger mixing bowl and whisk together until smooth and blended. 

Equally divide the mixture into 2 bowls and add the melted chocolate into one bowl and stir until smoothly blended, next using a teaspoon alternate the two mixtures into each paper cases putting about 4 half teaspoons in each paper case. 

Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 4 and bake for 20 minutes and springy to touch, transfer to wire rack and wait till they cool before chomping on a couple of them. 

I hope everybody enjoys the recipe I certainly did! 

The Bee has spoken!

Ok so my names not really Bumblebee but hey what’s real in life anyways at least on the internet you can be who you want to be  or is that just wishful thinking.
So I haven’t had a voice for the past 3 months hence the name of my blog. Everyone is saying it’s stress like they’re all qualified Doctors or something.
Maybe I should start looking into what’s stressed me out in the past or what’s stressing me out now that’s the reason why I created this blog to explore those idea’s and get other people opinions and tips. So I suppose the things stressing me out at the moment are:
1. Work.
2. Money.
3. Mam.
Well nothing out of the ordinary there, everybody gets stressed about those things, I think I need to explore deeper to find out my demons.
